Liberty Financial Group, a Bellevue WA mortgage company owned by Barry Horn, Charles Nay and 2 others, pledged $500,000 to a nonprofit called Agros International in 2003, to specifically help a village in Guatemala - Batzchocolá - that had been devastated in a civil war. LFG gave its employees a paid week off a year to travel to Batzchocolá to help build a school, church, homes, and to plant a coffee crop. To get into the village, one had to travel through a jungle for 4 miles, so LFG raised $88,000 to build a road. The villagers named the road Liberty Road - this freed up the village so kids could now go off to college, and the first coffee crop raised $40,000 at market.
ALL of the profits go to John and Karilyn Dammarell!
